BE BRAVE
Trauma (in any form) disconnects. It disconnects us from routines, healthy habits, friendships, relationships, the world around us, even ourselves. I’m sure you’re well aware, but take a second and look around at all the disconnection you’ve faced this last year alone.
Are you disconnected from your daily routine, exercise habits, sleep schedule? Are you disconnected from coworkers you no longer work next to? Are you disconnected from family/friends with differing political views? Are you disconnected from faith/hope that things will get better? Are you disconnected from inner peace, self-esteem, or self-confidence?
Like you, I’ve had my fair share of disconnection. I’m the first to admit I don’t have all the answers on how to reconnect (IDK if anyone does) BUT I’m confident I have the first step down.
I know how to be brave.
To me, to be brave means, to be willing to face disconnection. The pain. The fear. The unknown. All of it. To be brave doesn’t mean to be confident, calm, or unafraid. You can be brave shaking. You can be brave and anxious. You can be brave and clueless as to how/if things will mend. Just be willing to face it- to show up.
Be brave. And I promise, you too, will see that to be brave is to take the first step towards reconnection. Aka healing.
Take a second and answer one or all of these questions in your journal and/or notes!
What does be brave mean to you?
How will you be brave today?
How have you seen someone else be brave?
Be brave,
Bre
